I’m an Atlanta-based multimedia artist and creative consultant whose work explores the intersection of place, memory, and transformation. My artistic journey spans multiple mediums and decades, beginning with painting in 2003 and publishing comic strips in local newspapers from 2004-2008. During the pandemic lockdowns of 2020, I returned to my childhood fascination with photography, finding solace and inspiration in documenting the streets near my home.

This period of exploration led to my first major photographic project, "BTNTRX" (Beaten Tracks), which examines the historical intersection of race and railroads in Atlanta. The project yielded my first photo book, BTNTRX.V1, published in 2021, and continues to evolve. My subsequent project, "WYST" (When You See Them), completed in 2023, focused on documenting African-American Gen X men during a time of renewed racial tension.

My current work, "Vanishing Point," captures the rapidly changing urban landscape of neighborhoods east of downtown Atlanta. Shot during heavy fog in early morning light, these images use symbolism and innovative printing techniques to explore themes of memory and progress. Printed on metal to reflect the steel-and-concrete environments they depict, with LED lighting mimicking the fog's softening effect, the photographs transform mundane scenes into cinematic moments that invite viewers to recognize the hidden beauty in their everyday surroundings before it fades away.

In 2023, I expanded into documentary filmmaking, notably collaborating with acclaimed analog collage artist Marryam Moma to document her creative process and first solo show, "ICONoclasts." My distinctive documentary approach focuses on letting the creative process and artwork tell their own stories rather than centering on the artist's biography. This philosophy extends to my work through Stanback Studio, where I help businesses transform their challenges into compelling visual narratives through brand strategy, marketing solutions, and digital experiences.

My work has been featured in numerous exhibitions at locations around Atlanta, including Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and MINT Gallery, and my quarterly photo zine "ZURI SHOT ME" serves as both portfolio and experimental space. Looking ahead to 2025, I plan to revive and expand the magazine to showcase other lens-based artists, continuing my commitment to print media and visual storytelling.
